This one day wahine only wananga | workshop is designed to help you reduce and manage your stress responses, including those triggered by both daily stressors and traumatic events.  This wananga is also helpful if you wish to support someone who is suffering from chronic stress or trauma.

Here’s the learning outcomes you can expect to gain over the day:

  • Know What Stress Is: Learn about the different types of stress and identify which type or types of stress might be affecting you.  Identify how stress is showing up in your body and the impacts it’s having. 
  • Know What Trauma Is:  Learn about the different types of trauma.  Identify if you might be experiencing any levels of trauma based stress and the impacts this may be having. 
  • Know the Phases of the Stress Response:  Learn the three phases of the stress response, how they show up in our body and psychology.  Identify your stress activation responses.
  • Understand The Relationship Between Our Environments, Psychology, Physiology And Stress: Learn how the relationship between our environments, psychology and physiology can increase or reduce our levels of everyday or trauma based stress.  Identify triggers that activate everyday or trauma based stress for you.  Identify triggers that make you feel good.  
  • Understand How Our Beliefs Can Activate Stress: Learn how beliefs are developed, stored and used.  Identify beliefs that are activating stress for you and identify beliefs that are activating joy for you.
  • Know a Range of Stress Reduction and Management Strategies: Participate in a range of online and offline stress reduction techniques.  Using an online tool, prepare some strategies for reducing stress in real-time.  Identify and plan how to build stress management techniques into your routine.
  • Know How To Activate Joyful Responses: Learn how joyful feelings can be activated.  Identify triggers that activate joyful responses for you.

This one day wananga is designed to help you better understand everyday and trauma based stress so you can use that information to improve how you feel in your body, in your psychology and your ‘self’.  So you can…

What to bring:

A tablet, laptop or mobile phone (If you don’t have any of these that’s ok, no worries.  You’ll be provided with hard copies of the online tools)

What to wear:

No skirts or dresses thanks.  You’ll be practicing gentle and low impact poses on a yoga mat.  Loose clothing or gym gear is advised.

I educate my clients about how their physiology and psychology work and how these impact their choices both subconsciously and consciously, so they understand what’s happening with their body and can practice strategies to improve how they feel in it.

I help my clients become more aware of when their physiology and psychology are activated and moving into stress or trauma responses, so they can re-regulate their emotions and better manage their wellbeing.

The final step is sharing strategies that help my clients re-regulate their stress/trauma responses, manage their wellbeing, so they can experience improved confidence and quality of life.
