OUR MISSION

At Be Your Own Sunrise, our mission is to facilitate the cultivation of psychological and physiological wellbeing through education and meaningful, practical strategies.

A Bit About Me...

I have experienced various traumas from early childhood through to adulthood. I have suffered from anxiety and depression my entire life. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with complex PTSD in 2017 that I understood the impact of my traumatic experiences. This was a defining moment in my wellbeing journey.

The second defining moment in my wellbeing journey was when I learnt about human physiology and how it is responsible for our survive/thrive responses. This learning has changed my life. 

Understanding my physiology, and the partnership between my physiology and psychology, has helped me significantly reduce and manage my trauma and become more in control of my triggers, emotions and choices.  This learning has also helped me challenge and change my negative beliefs about myself. 

I’ve let go of the absolute rage I felt towards my abusers. I’ve forgiven myself for all the bad choices I made out of self-loathing as a result from experiencing multiple traumas and familial isolation. I’ve also let go of the fear that controlled every choice I made… or didn’t make. I’m more selective of the people I let into my life. Just as importantly, I no longer feel like my heart is heavy, closed and drowning in a thick soup of heaviness. My heart now feels light, bright, safe and open… with good boundaries in place of course!

Using knowledge and experience gained from my teaching and project management backgrounds, and the information I’ve gained from undertaking a lot of research, I developed my own tools to help me reduce and manage my responses to stress and trauma.  I’ve taken what worked best for me to create learning materials so these tools can help others too... And so, Be Your Own Sunrise® was born.

I am super passionate about helping people to let go of stress and trauma, to know that they deserve more than just day to day survival. I am super passionate about helping people practice strategies that lift them, guide them, and support them to thrive and live their best life… whatever that means for them.

I educate my clients on physiological and psychological self-awareness so that they can better regulate and manage their thoughts and emotions, and move away from a life of emotional survival to a life in which they can thrive.

I educate my clients on self-awareness so that they understand how their physiology and psychology can present, and I give them practical tools to manage negative and self-sabotaging responses.

ANYTIME, ANYWHERE

My clients receive practical tools/strategies that they can access on their mobile device, so they can use them on the go, anytime anywhere. When they catch themselves in a stress/trauma response they can quickly run through an exercise & then get back to life.
